Denim Daze

I've been wearing lots of denim lately, from a totally denim on denim look to denim touches. There's something about denim that gives an outfit an effortless edge; and as the weather's getting warmer, anything that feels effortless is a godsend.

The Ruffled Eighties

A while back I blogged about my outfit for the Malta Fashion Awards and I promised you a few more shots of my vintage blazer… well, here you go.

Derailed

Last weekend we had our second shoot for the June issue of the Sunday Circle. While we obviously can't reveal the clothes we picked for the magazine, which comes out on the 2nd of June, we can show you some bits and pieces, including that one final moment when relief drove us to insanity. The whole colour-coordination coincidence was completely accidental (yay for alliteration!).

La Vie en Rose – Part 1

I wish I was in Paris right now. It's such a perfect city; from the people to the food to the general nonchalant attitude that seems to fuel the most romantic city in the world.

Vintage floral shirt and skinny belt | New Look black skinnies | heady mix of jewellery bought, collected and piled on over time

So, just to feed my nostalgia a little further and to offer you lovely readers some outfit inspo, I decided I'd prepare a double post about what I wore during a week-long stay in Paris last September. I feel that I'd definitely repeat some of the looks I wore then, especially since they are pretty suitable to the season we're currently in.

Vintage blouse | belt and scarf worn as turban | New Look black skinnies

The food in Paris is great. I gorged on tartare, chevre, macarons, all washed down with lovely French wine of course.

RayBan sunnies | Asos leather satchel | Vintage denim waistcoat | silk tee from a London Boutique |  H&M metallic skirt | Kurt Geiger brogues

Massimo Dutti breton sweater | H&M black shirt | Zara mint shorts and nude loafers

Look out for more Parisian outfit shots tomorrow!

love,

C X

Malta Fashion Awards (or what I wore last Saturday)

Photo taken by the lovely Brian Grech

So last Saturday I ended the wonderful week of fashion at the Malta Fashion Awards. I must say it was a bit of an anticlimax, what with my lovely blog-mates Sandro and Nicole escaping the island, and with the non-attention-grabbing atmosphere onstage. The runways in the previous week though were an absolute joy to attend on the whole!

Makeover Takeover

Ta-daaaaaa!

As you can see, we've revamped our blog! We thought we needed a fresher, less cumbersome but more professional look and so, welcome to The Clouded Revolution 3.0! (Yes, there was a 1.0 too, but that didn't last very long...)

Read on to find out more about the features we have introduced or updated.

We Ran Away!

Blazer, clutch bag by Zara | crop top by H&M | vintage skirt | shoes by Mango

We've been bad.

Only not really. We did miss the Fashion Awards, but only because Nicole promised to watch a show by Naupaca Dance Factory and Sandro tagged along because, well, why not? Luke, whose clothes we showcased in the shoot we styled for Steph Galea, is the costume designer for the dance company, and also a very dear of friend of Nicole's, so we decided to go to Gozo bright and early (which, in our books, means around noon), have lunch, go to the beach (where we discovered the joy of finding sand in crevices of our body we didn't know existed) and then go to Victoria to watch Immaculate as part of the Lejliet Lapsi schedule of events.

International Designers at Malta Fashion Week

Things we liked about the International Designers Show:

✔ The venue. We got to attend the show at the Auberge de Castille. Not everyone can say they had the opportunity to enter the beautiful Knights-era building, which houses not only the offices of the Prime Minister but also a lot of historical and artistic value.
✔ The models. Some of them were absolutely gorgeous: towering, statuesque, energetic and with a presence that remains etched into your brain. We also loved the mixture of foreign and Maltese talent walking down the runway together.
✔ The designs. We will go into further detail once we get to the individual photos, but to give you a brief outline of the guest designers, we saw Marella Ferrera hailing from Sicily, the Nigerian House of Jola, Fabryan and Muscat London by Kevin Muscat, Nigerian and Maltese respectively but both based in London, and Biljana Tipsarevic from Serbia.
✔ The reception. After the show, all the guests gathered in the courtyard to discuss what the fashion and the following Fashion Awards over a glass of wine or Nestle hot chocolate. We met a few familiar faces as well as some new ones before we headed down for drinks and chit-chat.

There was also a slight air of despondency as people came to the realisation that this would be the last show of the year. The excitement, however, for the upcoming Fashion Awards was a lot higher. Claire will provide you all with the coverage, as Nicole and Sandro went on a weekend getaway to the sister island of Gozo to watch something very special.

Sunday Circle: Extras & Behind The Scenes

Full article here: http://www.sundaycircle.com/2013/05/bring-on-the-spring/

As you might have seen on our Facebook page as well as on the Sunday Circle that came out last Sunday, as it were, we had the opportunity and pleasure of featuring in a seven-page spread (together with an extra feature right after) in which we styled ourselves in three different Spring outfits each, using clothes by Harmont & Blaine, Massimo Dutti, Armani Jeans, Hilfiger Denim, Esprit, accessories from SunLab and shoes by ALDO. This is going to be a monthly feature so keep your eyes peeled every first Sunday of the month!

As promised, we are going to show you some extra photos that did not make it on the magazine as well as some behind-the-scenes shots. We would like to say thank you to the Sunday Circle as well as the outlets at the Point and Fratelli La Bufala, where we had a great meal, but also Colette, Claire's sister who helped us out during the shoot with all sorts of things. Merci bien !

New Designers Fashion Show

When the subject of the New Designers Show came up in conversation, we realised that we were both anticipating and dreading it.  Not knowing what you're going to encounter is both thrilling and nerve-wrecking, but it's a good mixture of emotions because it keeps you on your toes but also lends a slight sense of cynicism and distance.

However, we were pleasantly surprised with what we saw at the show held at the Xara Lodge in Rabat. The runway itself was spectacular, as were the Supernova Models walking down in the new designers' creations. We had the pleasure of viewing some old favourites, like Sef Farrugia with her Casa Azul collection, as well as relatively new ones like Ritienne Zammit, who showcased her second venture in design – we were in loooove! Check out our favourite looks and designers from yesterday's show.

Feast Patterns @ Charles & Ron

What a show!

You know how people say that you never forget your first. It's definitely going to be an unforgettable first fashion show for us. Starting off with Moira Delia wearing one of the pieces from last night's collection, down to the models, with their low ponytails and middle parting decorated with lace (to die for) and their silver eyebrows, and down to the final explosion of glitter as the show came to a fantastic end. We were proud to have attended such a colourful testament to the potential of Maltese talent to go international, while waving our flag with immense pride! As you can see below, the collection was inspired by bandalori and the intricate patterns found on damask festa flags infused with summer pastels and adventurous neons. The real pièces de résistance were the laser-cut gold leather tops and skirt. Simply amazing.

Yesterday was the official start to the Malta Fashion Week shows. The previous Thursday we attended the Launch party, where everyone from models, stylists, bloggers, sponsors and everyone else involved gathered at Medasia Lounge to celebrate a week of Maltese fashion. As you're reading this we'll be attending the Charles & Ron show at the Mediterranean Conference Centre – needless to say, we're looking forward! We'll be taking photos of the event so rest assured that you'll be kept updated with everything.

Note: I was holding one glass for someone else, I PROMISE.

Fashion Victims: The Aftermath

If you've been following our blog and our Facebook page (if you haven't – tsk, tsk), then you know that we were kindly invited to be the official bloggers for the Fashion Victims party at Tattingers last Saturday. So what we did was corner unwary partygoers in order to photograph their outfits and interview [i.e. wrestle answers to our questions from] them. We hung out later on to watch the shows: a performance by the lovely Melanie Zammit of Loverdose fame and a show with clothes by Charles & Ron, whose show we will be watching later on today. So scroll down and have a look at the fashionable guests as well as our own outfits.

New Loot!

I thought it would be interesting to change it up from my usual outfit posts and show you some of my favourite purchases this month!

When I was younger I used to go totally overboard when I used to travel and would end up buying many items I'd later regret purchasing upon my return to reality!
Nowadays I try to take my time and invest in pieces that might be a little more pricey but that I know I will get more wear of and more of classic purchases.

Milano – Ti Amo!

One thing you must know about me is my passion for travel. It's been instilled in me from a very young age; the need to wander.

One of my best friends just happens to live in one of the most beautiful cities of Italy, Milan. It was about time that I dropped by for a visit and it was an absolutely perfect stay.

From markets to aperitivo, to shopping and eating, Milan just exudes style and grace. Even just taking a stroll around the streets is fascinating.

I apologise for the album of photos but I just couldn't pick my favourites!!!

Ahoy!

Wassup, everyone? Fashion Week is soon approaching, but before all the catwalks and camera flashes, we got the chance to attend the Tommy Hilfiger Spring/Summer 2013 Collection Launch at Palazzo Ferreria in Valletta. As you can see from the photos below, it was immensely fun and packed with all sorts of people from the working industry, from bloggers like Devil Wears Pra-duh (who hosted the event together with Marisa Grima, who looked amazing in her all-white outfit) and The Fashion Carousel (check out her post covering the event too!) to photographers and other entrepreneurs – not to mention the super-friendly staff and the statuesque models gracing the entrace into the party.
